چکیده

Abstract Key message We present a structured and curated database covering 21 years of LFMC measurements in the Catalan region, along with an associated R package to manage updates facilitate quality processing visualisation. The data set provides valuable information study plant responses drought improve fire danger prediction. Dataset access is at https://doi.org/10.5281/zenodo.4675335 , metadata are available https://metadata-afs.nancy.inra.fr/geonetwork/srv/fre/catalog.search#/metadata/583fdbae-3200-4fa7-877c-54df0e6c5542 .

Estimating live fuel moisture content from remotely sensed reflectance

Fuel moisture content (FMC) is used in forest fire danger models to characterise the moisture status of the foliage. FMC expresses the amount of water in a leaf relative to the amount of dry matter and differs from measures of leaf water content which express the amount of water in a leaf relative to its area. FMC is related to both leaf water content and leaf dry matter content, and the relati...

Real-time Live Fuel Moisture Retrieval with MODIS Measurements

Live fuel moisture is one of the most important fuel properties and a critical parameter for fire danger rate forecasting and fire behavior analysis. Many approaches have been proposed to retrieve live fuel moisture with satellite remote sensing measurements. In this paper, we presented live fuel moisture retrieval with near real-time MODIS measurements, discussed the applications of real-time ...

Fog and live fuel moisture in coastal California shrublands

9 Across most Mediterranean-type climate regions, seasonal drought desiccates plants, facilitating ignition 10 and the spread of wildfires. Along the California coast, summertime fog has the potential to ameliorate 11 drought conditions and thus reduce plant flammability during a critical time of elevated fire risk. This 12 study investigated the uptake of dry season fog and how it affects live...

Monitoring herbaceous fuel moisture content with SPOT VEGETATION time-series for fire risk prediction in savanna ecosystems

This paper evaluated the capacity of SPOT VEGETATION time-series to monitor herbaceous fuel moisture content (FMC) in order to improve fire risk assessment in the savanna ecosystem of Kruger National Park in South Africa. In situ herbaceous FMC data were used to assess the Normalized Difference Vegetation Index (NDVI), Normalized Difference Water Index (NDWI), Vegetation Dryness Index (VDI), Im...
